Connecting your leads to Greenstar's system

Three things to set up on your side. Each one is a few clicks.

What this does. Right now somebody at Greenstar retypes your leads into their system by hand. After this, each lead arrives on its own the moment it comes in. And when Greenstar turn one into a job, Google gets told, so the advertising budget goes to the adverts that bring in customers rather than the ones that only bring in enquiries.

What you do. Three steps below, in order. The page tells you when your test has arrived, so you can check it yourself. Nothing here needs a password sending to anyone.

1Add one hidden field to your form

So the code Google attaches to each click comes through with the lead.

  1. Open the form your Greenstar leads come through.
  2. Add a Hidden Field.
  3. Name it exactly gclid, all lower case. Save the form.

If the form is on a website you built rather than inside GoHighLevel, it needs a hidden input named gclid filled from the page address. Whoever built the page will know what that means.

Why. Google never finds out who anybody is. When someone clicks an advert, all Google knows is that a click happened. So it adds a code to the end of the web address, and that code is the only thing that can connect a sale months later back to the advert that caused it. A hidden field with that exact name picks the code up automatically. Without it, leads still arrive, but Google can never be told which adverts are working.

2Give us access to Google Ads

So we can report the results back and see what is already being counted.

  1. Log in to the Google Ads account the Greenstar adverts run in.
  2. Left-hand menu: Admin, then Access and security.
  3. Click the plus button.
  4. Email address: oliver@coldlava.ai
  5. Access level: Standard. Send the invitation.

We accept the invitation our end. Nothing else for you to do, and nothing changes in the account.

3Connect it and send a test

This is the part that makes leads flow.

  1. In GoHighLevel: Automation, then Workflows, then Create Workflow, start from scratch.
  2. Add a trigger: Form Submitted. Set its filter to the Greenstar form. If Greenstar's leads do not come through a form, use the trigger for a new lead or opportunity being created instead.
  3. Add an action: Webhook (on some accounts it is called Custom Webhook).
  4. Method: POST. Paste this address into the URL box. Leave everything else as it is.

The address is unique to Greenstar. Please do not share it anywhere else.

  1. Save and publish the workflow.
  2. Now send a test: open the Greenstar form as a customer would, fill it in with your own details, and submit it. To prove the hidden field from step 1 is working too, add ?gclid=test123 to the end of the form page's address before you fill it in.

Did the test arrive?

4Tell us you're done

You can send this more than once. Each send adds to the last, nothing is overwritten.
